Hard Boiled Wonderland And A Tangerine Slush

Part of my ongoing Alien Landscapes series, Hard Boiled Wonderland and a Tangerine Slush imagines an ecosystem that exists somewhere between memory, dream, and biological possibility. The title borrows its sense of dislocation and wonder from Haruki Murakami’s novel, becoming a point of departure for a world where fragments of botanical forms, microscopic organisms, geological strata, and invented species coexist in a state of perpetual transformation.

I have built these paintings through paint pours, drawing, collage, and embroidery. The organic paint pours allow chance encounters to shape the composition. The mixed media layers accumulate like sediment, revealing traces of growth, decay, adaptation, and renewal. The resulting landscape resists a fixed reading and invites viewers to wander through it as they might an unfamiliar terrain. The work reflects my fascination with rewilding as both an ecological process and a metaphor for imagining alternative futures.
